I’m not sure who should shoulder more of the blame for Boston’s loss to Los Angeles Thursady night, Big Baby Davis or Doc Rivers. As I sat and watched a great basketball game until there were about two minutes left, I wondered who would make the mistake and allow the other team to win. My early guesses were Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom, Big Baby Davis, and Scalabrini — but he never made it on the floor for this game. As the fourth quarter time elapsed my goat had been discovered. Big Baby Davis won the award for worst decisions to win a game in overtime. The Celtics have Eddie House on the bench so Big Baby can heave one up from 30 feet with twenty seconds on the shot clock. Then he gets the ball on the last Celtic possession and wildly fires it up barely contacting the rim. Overtime starts, Big Baby takes the floor again and manages to continually screw up. I would guess in the last quarter and overtime he was about 1 of 7 from the floor. Missing shots is one thing, but if you watch American Idol, you know how important song selection is. Big Baby was a poor song choice, at least in this game.
